Hicks Health Announces Partnership with Hewley Griffith Table Tennis Academy

We’re delighted to announce a new partnership with the Hewley Griffith Table Tennis Academy in Bromley, and the opportunity to support the great work that Hewley does for young people and adults in Bromley and surrounding areas.

About Hewley Griffith

Hewley is ideally positioned as a table tennis coach and someone to help bring the sport to people at all levels. As a child, Hewley won the national under-12 championship and was selected to play for the national team in his home country of Guyana. He trained for hours each day and went on to win a host of National and International tournaments over a professional career spanning over two decades.

Hewley has held a wide variety of coaching roles including coaching the Guyana national team, the senior British league team, and paralympic Team GB. To everyone he coaches, he brings the same philosophy of friendship, team-building, hard work and positive thinking, making him a perfect role model and guide for young people. As Hewley says:

“I grew up in a place where opportunities were limited and playing table tennis all those years was difficult. There were times when we would turn up at the club and we did not have a ball to play with and we would pool whatever money we had to buy one just so we could play. We made so much of the little we had, it was so much fun and meant so much to us”

About the Hewley Griffith Table Tennis Academy

Hewley and his team offer coaching at all levels of the game, from complete beginners to those competing at a national level. The team runs a number of school and club programs around the borough and across the country to increase participation and to improve and nurture all skill levels in the sport of table tennis.

Table tennis is one of the most accessible and inclusive sports available. It can be played by elderly people and people with disabilities, and to get started in the sport requires no great strength, athleticism or mobility. Hewley and his team take table tennis into care homes, helping elderly people to maintain agility and flexibility, and also coach people with disabilities from complete beginner to paralympic level.

We particularly admire Hewley for his work in making his sport so accessible, and are delighted for the chance to support what he does.
